This, that, and the other thing…
Here’s something funky from Barenaked Ladies:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKbVDeZY3b0&feature=player_detailpage#t=2s
Not too much happening this week so far. After having the refrigerator die last week and dealing with all that went with it. Well, it arrived a few days because we forgot to scan the purchase order to get in the system so had to re-do the order. Oh, have I mentioned we forgot to measure the damned thing. So it was about an 1/8th of an inch too small at one end so the cabinets had to come down and maybe someday soon, they’ll get planed down a bit and then the cabinets will go back in place. But next on the buy list along with a new microwave oven is a stove. It’s not a high priority, but the thing is twenty years old. It’s still works but I’m not the one who wants one. Lord, we have a toaster oven that gets more use than that. Me I’d rather have regular toaster because I like to have both sides of my bread toasted. Again it’s out of my hands.
The new casino in Cleveland is opening this Monday and because where I work at, you would think we would have picked up some business but alas we did not. Now figure this out because for some reason Ohioans are weird. We passed the law to have the damned things built almost three plus years ago. And just now we are opening one in Cleveland and in a few weeks in Toledo. The last one I can’t figure out. It’s spitting distance from Windsor Canada and Detroit which has casinos. I have never been to a casino and I may go to the downtown one out of curiosity but I never had a desire to go to one. My boss loves the places. Between Las Vegas and the East Coast, I think he has hit every major casino. So Thursday (I mentioned this in a pulse last Thursday) he got a chance to see the inside of The Horseshoe It’s the name of the casino which has a part owner of the name of Dan Gilbert, who owns The Cleveland Cavaliers and made his cash from a company called Quicken Loans) and he timed it at a little over four minutes from where we work at to the casino. I think that’s a bit quick because when it opens Monday, traffic is going to be even more snarled than it is anyways. I’ve living in this area for years and let me tell you that downtown Cleveland dies after 9pm on a good night. I used to ride public transportation and I know. I am leery because all I’ve heard about casinos ain’t been good for the community. So who knows.
Speaking of work: I’m counting the days until Summer is over with. Yeah, you’re saying Summer starts next month. Yeah, everyone wants to take their vacations during these months. So, from June-September, our place is going to short handed. And not to mention three holidays to screw up night crews work schedule. As I said before I love my job but this is the price I have to pay for my job. Oh that and The Feast Of The Assumption. Yeah, Little Italy has it every year. Think street party where the food and drink is over priced and a portion of the cash goes to the Catholic Church. Mean while there this awesome Italian restaurant near by me and my town has this festival called The Corn Festival (My old high school is next to a corn field. Yeah, and a highway that will take you to Cleveland in twenty minutes if you do the speed limit.). So, yeah, I’m not a big fan of Summer. It’s too damned hot and humid. More of a fan of Spring and Autumn.
Not much gong on this weekend. Slept in late today because I didn’t get much sleep this week. Just doing yard work tomorrow. And the usual chores around the house that needs taken care of. Veg out a little here for a bit and read for a bit and maybe get eight hours of sleep…
Be safe out there and have a quiet day tomorrow…

i heard my first psa (sponsored by the great state of pa.) for gamblers addictions. we didn’t have such advertisements on the radio before we got casinos. how awesome is that? i have no desire whatsoever to see the inside of a casino. i have no money and less luck.
sleeping in late sounds pretty good.
@promisesunshine - You and me both. We’ve had PSAs about gambling (state lotteries and scratch-off) for years. This how backward we are Ohioans. We sed this damned thing over three years ago and just now we’re having the things (three in Ohio) opening now. You people in PA had yours open in less time. No, I may never go inside of one. Have a good Mothers Day Carrie…
@Zoz36 - our governor was a crook. i’ve always thought mafia. and our new one just hates kids. thank you, brian. be good to your womenfolk.
I’ve been in a casino. Just like you…I was curious. I allowed myself $15. I played the penny games. You would have thought I was playing with $100 bills. I was so stressed out every time I lost that I was nearly a nervous wreck. Just about lost all of it and started winning. When I got back to $15 I cashed out and never went back. That’s NOT entertainment!
I love the spring…love to work in my garden and I adore the fall because I love the brisk weather. The horribly HOT weather we have here during summer does nothing for me. Now, if I lived by the beach, it might be different! Have a great weekend!
We go to the Detroit ones all the time but a lot of people don’t like driving in that area and if there’s a game or auto show going on, everyone parks in the casino garages so there’s no place to park. Going to Windsor now requires either a passport or a border crossing card and people don’t want to pay the prices for those. Ours (Toledo) opened today, but there was no way we were going to battle the traffic and crowds.
Yeah, I hear you. The Cleveland one is still busy. I’ll check it out later this year. Maybe October… The one in Cleveland is geared towards having alot of foot traffic for the various restaurants in Downtown Cleveland…
