The Dark Knight Rises…
A few Notes:
I went to bed to absorb the awesomeness that was the movie only to wake up to find out some person shot up a theater in Colorado during the premiere of the movie. I’m hoping a fellow Xanga friend Boulderchristina isn’t one of the ones shot or dead. I’m sure more information about why he did it will surface. Until then, be aware of where you’re at and still go out and enjoy yourself. Don’t let a person like this mess up your plans.
I took the day off to enjoy myself (the next month and half the vacations start and a local festival in Little Italy and a two week stint in the freezer to top things off and decided to take the day off.) The last two midnight showings of movies I went to were at a local theater that’s a 10 minute drive. I decided to buy my ticket a few hours early and maybe hit a local coffee shoppe and read a new book. I get to the theater around 10pm. Sold freaking out. All their theaters. The next showing was at 3:30am. Start to freak out a bit. So I head west and get caught in a massive traffic jam, miss the exit and back track and find a theater that wasn’t sold out. I didn’t do to coffee shoppe but thankfully I brought my handy dandy PSP and got caught up my shows I down loaded.
Now on to my review. Spoilers maybe…
No, seriously, spoilers…
Bruce Wane has been a recluse after the action from The Dark Knight. A few laws have made the streets safe of organized crime and Batman hasn’t been seen after he’s been accused of Harvey Dents death. Bruce is a little more banged up and a “servant” comes up and delivers his meal only to crack his safe and steal a necklace. From there the ride begins and never lets up. Selina Kyle also delivers Bruces’ finger prints to a bad guy who then bankrupts Bruce Wane, but a shadowy figure is really pulling the strings after his minions rescue him in mid-flight. Bane is name and has ties to The League of Shadows. Bruce has a fusion device that doesn’t work but someone can make it work. Bane knows this but first has to take out Batman/Bruce. And does so with ease. But doesn’t kill him. No, Bane has take the fusion device and reconfigures it to a nuclear bomb. He then cuts the city off from everything else, opens the prisons, anyone who’s rich get punished. And then….
What, and tell you the ending???
Of the three latest Batman movies… Lord, it was hard to top the last movie but this one does. I had reservations with all the characters being there and I didn’t think two hours and forty-eight minutes would do it justice. And there’s a big reveal at almost the end of the movie that I didn’t see coming but should have, as I am a comic book nerd. But each character has a vital part in the over all story arc that makes the movie that much better. The fight scenes were awesome as was the car chase. But the story and the ending was just this side of greatness. It ties up a lot of loose ends and creates possible story-lines. Endings and beginnings. If you’re a Sci-Fi nerd like myself, there are a number of actors who are in the movie. Some a brief part but if you’re observant, you’ll catch them. There are few story ideas about how the ultra rich are beyond us, how laws to protects the citizens may go to far (after the shooting in Colorado, the “talking heads” are at it again), and few other ideas but it never gets preachy. The actors are great and the new “Bat-Plane” for lack of a better term is awesome.
Will it top Marvels Avengers??? That movie was also released in 3D but The Dark Knight Rises was not. But, I think this was a different movie. The Avengers was a popcorn movie. Meaning that it’s movie that has a lot of action, eye candy, and not a whole lot of substance. Not that it’s a bad thing. A little bit of escapism is good. HOW that movie did a Billion, that’s right a Billion Dollars escapes me. But who knows. After the shooting in Colorado… This shouldn’t make anyone not see it. Hell, see any movie. But if you liked the past two Batman movies run, don’t walk and see it. And start counting the days until the Blue-Ray release…
Be Safe and catch ya later…

I definitely have it on my list of movies to see. Might even go to a theater, since I did see the last two in the theater. Story sounds awesome from what you report. Glad to hear it’s living up to the awesomeness.
Also, I thought about Christina the moment I heard the word “Colorado.” But I don’t think it was near her.
nice write-up. is it really almost 3 hours long?? it was near denver. i think. oh, but boulder isn’t that far away. anyhow. i’m glad you liked the movie and that it was worth the wait.
My aunt lived in Aurora…it’s approximately 9 miles outside of Denver, so it’s really a little suburb. I was just in shock this morning when I heard that on the news at 5:30. Made me so sick. After the bombing that occurred here in OKC, I was really uneasy for a long time going to big venues. I was always looking for the exit, planning my escape should anything happen. This is so, so terribly sad.
Glad the movie didn’t disappoint for you. Your review made me want to go see it, but that may be awhile.
Thanks for thinking of me
you’re such a sweetheart
