  • Political/Religion

Politics and Religion have been touchy subjects to me. All because everyone can’t be right/wrong. Same goes with most anything else. But name me anything else that has cause more people to go to war with someone else. I had to block two users because of this. I AVOID both topics as best I can. Because I know SOMEONE will be offended and I’ll say something snarky and will regret it. One comment I made about the two people running for the presidency and of all the responses I get is the one saying I may have made an error about why I won’t vote for Obama. I thought about not putting it in there but who was going to make a comment about that?. Oooops. So I blocked said person. After I made a comment I made in error of the facts. May have made an error. Don’t know. Don’t care. There are those here in Xanga land who do/know more about the “system” more than I do. They do it better than I do. My blog is mostly me making random thoughts, nothing too deep. I think the system is broke. Why? Why is so much money being spent on attack ads? Where is this money coming from? And what do these people expect to get in return? I really don’t want to know the answer. I will not like it. So, I’m burning my soap box on these two topics and try and keep things light and fun here in my little corner of Xanga.

Update: Never thought I get the response from this blog. It’s been good. I try and keep things light here. On the subject of Space, I am a nerd. And when a sitting president cuts funding to NASA, I’m going to say something about. Well not anymore. He did cut funding that would have enabled to fund various projects like a heavy lift launch vehicle. And I know my history that it was a number of years between the Apollo program and the first manned flight of the Space Shuttle. And NASA was created because of the Cold War. And President Kennedy, a Democrat, made the speech to go to the moon. And wondered in private if he made a mistake in doing so. And NASA should have long ago been promoting the commercial side of space exploration. And yet along with the comment about Romney, nothing was said. So I have destroyed the soap box and scattered the ashes in different areas. And if I offended anyone by blocking them, I am sorry. And I should keep my pie hole shut.

So no more of that. And I have ideas for the month of October. I mean Rocktober. Time to celebrate music!!!

so very cool. much better things to talk about.

  • @promisesunshine - Thanks. I try and keep things light here. The “Real World” is scary enough. Here, I hope I can amuse someone or give entertainment when possible.

  • it’s all good, brian

  • I don’t discuss religion or politics on Xanga.  Most people who know me know that I am a pretty peaceful person.  I made ONE reference to the fact that I am a “dove” (don’t like war) and a former subscriber went off on me.  From that point on, she made it her mission to harrass me and send e-mails harrassing me because she was a gun-totin’ redneckin’ certified American.  Sorry if I offend, but I believe that we ALL have the right to our own beliefs.  Even when I told her so, she never let up.  So I blocked her.  Handy little tool.  Lesson learned.

You won’t get any arguments from me.  I love keeping it light.

  • Just a question….Why did you block a person just for pointing out that you were mistaken in one of your facts? Or am I reading what you said above wrong? Sounds like the person was just trying to be helpful.

  • I am “friends” here with said person and with you. I am really sorry that this happened because I respect and like both of you.

I have been through too many political seasons and lost too many friends to get worked up when an internet friend and I disagree. I have a friend here who I disagree with politically and we keep our posts civil. I have maintained friendships with people in real life whom I disagreed with.

Keep on keeping on here. I always like your posts.
