  • This, That, And The Other Things…

Out of two lawn mowers that were “broke”, the electric lawn mower survived. I “apparently” bent a shaft while cutting the front yard a while back. The problem with the electric mower was a something in the handle which was re-attached. I was looking at new electric lawn mowers that were wider because the I have looks like something from Fisher Price. But at $500.00 right now, I’m going to hold off on a new one right now. The grass was high enough to take two days to do. And I forgot I had it on the lowest setting. But the sides of the house and the front yard are done and it doesn’t look like an abandoned house.

Mentioned in a Pulse that Earth, Wind & Fire/Hall and Oates have sold songs to companies to use in their ads. “You Make My Dreams Come True” is used by E Harmony and “September” is being used by Subway because this was the month Subway was born. While I can see where if someone is throwing a ton of cash at you to use your song as a ad campaign, you would be stupid not to take it. But come on. I love both of those songs. At least re purpose the song. Not use it as is. Well, as I said in the Pulse, End Times are around the corner.

Still loving my Samsung Galaxy. As insult to injury to some, I got an ad on my cell phone for an I Phone 5. No Thank You. I like my phone and I like Samsung better than Apple when it comes to phones. Apple computers are better but they’re way out of my price range. The folks at work like my phone. They still have flip phones. I almost went with the Windows phone because it’s Nokia but went with the Samsung because I haven’t read anything decent on the Windows phone.

In case any one doesn’t know: Today is the first day of Fall. And here came the rain. Seeing how Lake Erie temp is still in the mid-sixties, the cool weather isn’t so cool yet. But the nice breeze is always nice.

Ran out of decent candy to snack on and had to resort to Candy Corn. But ran to Walgreens and bought two small boxes of Whoppers and one small box of grape/strawberry Nerds. Waiting for the day the Halloween candy goes on sale.

While playing games on Facebook, I was watching VH1 Classics and they were doing a show about artists who were never One Hit Wonders. They made it to number two on the charts. Which is why I posted a video of Jane Childs’ “Don’t Want To Fall In Love”. I wished I had the cassette of her album. Yes I did buy it and I liked a lot of the music on it. Would have watched more but I had to get the grass cut before it started to rain. Meridith Brooks “Bitch” was shown before Janes’ song.

On the VH1 thread: I’m can’t wait until Heart is on That Metal Show. I’m not a big fan of Heavy Metal music but I’ve seen a few shows that have had a few artists I like. And Heart is in my top ten music groups. They’re on my bucket list to see in concert.

Well, going to waste time else where on the ‘net. Or I may read one of many books on the stack I haven’t read yet. It’s nice to get the chores done and start on “lazy mode” and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Stay dry catch ya later!!!

  • Top Three Tuesday…

Not as brain addled as I have been in recent weeks I have another installment of Top Three Tuesday…

    Top Three Favorite Cookies!!!

(I told y’all it would be food related for a while. Just wait until October. A all candy Top Three month…)

My to three cookies are… Drum roll please…

    1. Peanut Butter Chunk

    2. Chocolate Chip

    3. Oreo Double Stuff Peanut Butter favored

So, fellow Xangans, what ARE your favorite three cookies. Or if you have more, feel free to add your favs…

Next week is still floating around  but it maybe still food related. November may have one food related as December. Any ideas for Top Three Tuesdays… leave me a message and who knows, I may use them and let everyone who’s idea it was

Until the next post, no freezer action and we’re still short handed and still having fun with smart phone…

Be careful out there, be safe and remember this: It’s Better To Be Thought A Fool Than To Open Ones Mouth And Remove All Doubt. (Yeah, I REALLY need to heed that thought. All the times I’ve said things and wondered why I did…)

  • Update…

Got my new “smart phone”. And here’s the story that goes with it. I’ll try not and bore you because the day started early. And unless the candy corn kicks in, it’s nighty night for me… (Yeah, not getting enough sleep the night before does that. And reading long into the night doesn’t help either…)

The day started off early. Took in a bunch of scrap, cans etc. and I had a bright idea of going to Wally World to either get my cell phone or check out the ones I may want to buy. Now, in most Wally World stores, cell phones are in the Electronics section. Not so in store I went into. Then again it was one the Super Ginormous Wally Worlds. The one with it’s own Zip Code. So any ways… I find the T-Mobile Phone I want and proceed to go through the process of getting the thing turned on. It should have been easy. Apparently, when I first started with T-Mobile, it was at one of those kiosks that was affiliated with T-Mobile and some how, either Wally World or someone else wouldn’t let me get a new phone. So, my dad with me suggests to me to dump T-Mobile and go with AT&T. And I dump $80.00 more than I want to because of the $150.00 deposit that I will get back next year.  But it’s a Samsung Galaxy and DAMNED is it fun. And a sd card slot so I can hopefully load it up with songs and other things. And it’s about what I was paying before. Less minutes but they roll over and $30.00 data plan/internet. So unless I majorly screw up, I’ll be able to afford this new toy.

On a off topic: I just watched “Revolution”, a new show that premieres next week. Thanks to the PSP Network, they have pilot there and I figured what the Hell. It’s free and it’s a show that has potential. Okay, what would happen if some one had the ability to shut off every device on Earth. No batteries, electric grid, nada. And they shut off the power. Fifteen years later the story pick up and… Well, I’ll let you make your own call on it. It’s worth a shot after watching it. (So, no the PSP will not be replaced any time soon. No, my movies on my memory sticks will still stay there and the screen is larger) I am hoping “Last Resort” on ABC if worth a shot. Andre Braugher is an AWESOME actor. So it’s worth a shot. And maybe that new Sherlock Holmes show on CBS. As if I don’t have enough to watch to watch…

Well, time for something to eat. My sister’s week old pasta with Diet Caffeine Free Coke. Yeah, kinda weird. Just to have the taste of Coke instead of just drinking cold water. Well, I’d be drinking Diet Mountain Dew but I’d like to sleep in the next few hours. So, my Sunday is going to be chore. Vacuuming out the car and weed wack around the house is on the to-do list.

    So, y’all have a restful weekend…

  • Odds And Ends…

Had to do a double take while listening to a football game on the radio. A commercial that Subway is running has the song “September” from Earth, Wind, and Fire in it. I guess everyone has to get paid. But whatever happened to originality???

The weather is FINALLY turning cooler. And I for one, am happy. The long months of being covered in sweat are almost over. And next week the temps are going to be in the mid 50′s. Now, I can start my walks again…

Got an interesting letter from management about our raises. In so many words, we the workers should be lucky that we got a raise. “Scoffs” “Snorts” Well, if you read in between the lines, that’s what gist of it was. Ah, gotta love it. And had a good laugh at it.

T-Mobile, my cell carrier, set me an e-mail about a $5.00 a month data plan. Now, if only Wal Mart has the cell phone I want. Or do I want to wait and deal with the paper work of a mail-in rebate? Decisions, decisions…

I have amend one of my favorite desserts: Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Just bought one and damn… I have to pace myself or the whole danged thing won’t last weekend… (Need to walk for an hour if this keeps up. Or maybe sweating at work wasn’t so bad after all…)

Halloween falls on Wednesday, and hopefully when I get off from work the good candy will still be around at Wal Mart. I swear, I saw people with loaded shopping carts with candy at 50% off last year. (yeah, may have to relocate to the summer like climates…)

Well, the clothes are washed for the week. Maybe tomorrow I’ll know how much the cost of the repairs on the lawn mowers or if the place rents them… (that’s what I’ve missed, mowing the lawn and getting a decent walk in…)

Well, crossing my fingers, Top Three Tuesday will be back. Long hours on Mondays addled my brain cells more than usual.

Short night tonight. Have to be ready to go and take scrap the recycle center in A.M.

    Have a quiet weekend everyone!!!

  • A brief blog…

(Three times I tried to post this and my VAIO is acting up. It was acting up all day yesterday. I may end up shelving it.)

My weekend us very unproductive. I had wanted to mow the yard but the electric/battery powered lawn mower had other plans. This is now two lawn mowers that are broke and unless A. I can find a new battery for the electric mower that’s at least 15 years old or B. Find a place that will fix the Sears Craftsman lawn mower, It’s going to cost me north of $300.00 for a new one.

No ideas for the Top Three Tuesday yet. Maybe in five hours I may have an idea.

A short work week in front of me. Just have get past Tuesday because A. I’m in the freezer until Thursday. B. We’re short handed two people until Thursday and C. Holiday has screwed everything up. This is the price I pay for my four day/night work week. Sheesh, enough with the whining. I just got my first pay raise in three years.

Had fun chatting with Lanney yesterday. Have to do that again soon.

Michael Clarke Duncan died Monday. 54 years too young. He was the reason I liked Daredevil. And what a deep voice…

Well, hope every one has a nice week and enjoyed their three day weekend!!!

  • Top Three Tuesday/A brief blog…

(Frack me, had a decent blog post going and damned if I found a way to erase it.)

Yeah, it’s a day late but after a long night in the deep freeze, it takes some time to warm up. Mondays/first day of the work week are never fun. And next Tuesday is looking to be a class A  pain in the ass. Due to the holiday, I’m expecting the worse and having to spend time putting product in the air and deal with later so I can have room to work. So my plan for the three day weekend is to have my chores done by Sunday night and have Monday and just veg out and get to sleep early. Because if Mr Murphy shows his ugly head that day, I could be in for a long day. I may have to start work at 11:00 am and if I am lucky, be done by 11:30 pm. So, I may not be here much this weekend. This week hasn’t been too bad but there are three more days left. And every time I get too cocky, work has a nasty habit of biting me on the ass.

    So, Top Three Tuesday is…

    Drum roll please…

Top three favorite Ice Cream Flavors!!!

(I warned you all when I started this the first few posts like this will be about food)

(Brain is fried and I haven’t put much thought over the past week. Well, I did have a few good ideas but the train is so easily derailed at times)

(Even though I have sworn off ice cream after have had gelato, there are some awesome flavors I’ve had extreem luck to sample)

    1. Pumpkin (Yeah, not a flavor you’ld expect but having a taste of this in gelato form, I had sneak some home with me)

    2. Strawberry

    3. Heath Bar Crunch

So next week maybe more in the form of books… Dunno yet but it’s an idea. Or I may stay with food. Stay tuned True Believers!!!

  • Top Three Tuesday…

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah… It’s Friday and it’s says Tuesday. Monday was a 12 hour night. Some one said they missed the post so here we go:

Top Three Favorite Comfort Foods. Hot or cold

    1. Pinto Beans

    2. Corn Bread

    3. Sister’s Meatloaf

(For a long time, I was on a quest that resembled that of the Holy Grail for some one who made a decent/edible meatloaf besides my sister. I ate a lot of very bad meatloaf in the travels. There were a few places but they’re more than a five hour drive away. So I gave that up but if it’s on the menu, I’ll try it.)

So fellow Xangans, what’s your three favorite comfort foods???

  • Still Crazy After All These Years…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KM0EcbPjMI&feature=player_detailpage#t=1s

Now if that isn’t a decent opening blog invite, I don’t know what is. I wanted to use the video bit from Grosse Pointe Blank where a classmate yells “Ten Years” for a few minutes but I am way too damned lazy tonight and it’s closing in on 4am and I need a shower after working in a hot warehouse.

    I lied:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-pupHeSHOEE#t=0s

Ten years ago a friend of mine introduced me to Xanga because a few of our mutual friends from a fanzine hung out here and I had a web tv and needed more time to waste on the Internet. TEN YEARS… TEN  YEARS… Sorry, Grosse Pointe Blank is one of my favorite movies of all time. Anyway, if anyone is interested in reading some of my first posts, feel free if you’re really bored. I haven’t been here for the entire ten years because of my web tv breaking on me twice and not having access to a computer (hence having a web tv and I do miss that device. I can’t tell you how fun it was surfing the web from the couch.), I was away for a awhile. And unless something happens, I will be here for many years to come. A lot of the people I knew have gone. There may be few who have been here that I know, but for the most part, they are gone. But I have a new bunch of “friends and it’s as fun now as it was then. Maybe better. Because I’m older, sader and hopefully wiser. But August 23, 2002 was my first post.

No Top Three Tuesday for the next few weeks. Monday was a pulse explaining why. And the two Tuesdays will be due to being over worked at work. It will be back. And I may come up with more ideas to blog about.

Well, for now I need a shower and some sleep. 10:30 am arrives way too early for me and I get so distracted to miss much sleep.

    Here’s to another 10 years…

  • Odds and Ends…

This Thursday is when I posted my first blog back in 2002. August 23, 2003. It’s in the archives some where if you’re really bored. My favorite number is 23. The day I was born was the 23rd. That’s the story I’m sticking with.

The electric lawn mower works. Which amazes me. It feels like I’m pushing a Fisher Price lawn mower. It’s that light. Powered by a 12 volt battery. Made back in the late 1990′s. Maybe there’s a chance that the old Craftsman Lawn mower maybe revived. But I somehow doubt it. But the front, back and sides of the house are cut until the next rain fall which looks like some time next week. Or whenever the weather forecasters (wing nuts) decide on a forecast beyond five days.

I said in a pulse I hate ITunes. It wouldn’t down load The Hunger Games to my lap top. Seeing how our Blue Ray player isn’t hooked up yet, I bought that version instead in hopes of being used. I should have went with the DVD version first. VUDU has a on-line service where you can view movies but without the DVDs. Call it another version of Netflix. No subscription fees. Just buy the movies online. I guess that’s how it works. It’s through Wall Mart. So, like the fool I am, after I was able to get it working, I watched The Hunger Games. And it’s still a damned fine movie. So I woke up later than I wanted to after falling asleep around 5am this morning.

Sis is going to inflict some new recipe on me today. Where’s the Pepto Bismo at???

It’s nice and cool now but the warm-up is coming back later in the week. I just know, the sunset is sooner now and before too long, Autum will be here and I like the cooler weather.

The next DVD I’m buying is going to be Marvels Avengers in two weeks. The DVD version that is.

Copper is a new series on BBC America I’m going to check out tonight. It’s by one of the writers of Homicide: Life On The Streets. One of my favorite shows of all time. So, I’m going to give it a shot. The actress from the first two Bourne movies stars in it. The series takes place in the late 1800′s. Think The Gangs Of New York.

Well, time for me to waste time else where. Have a great week. School starts here mid week. Be safe out there…

  • “New” lap top…

A short post before calling it a night…

My dad gave me his Sony VAIO lap top he bought four or fiver years ago. He updated it a year back. But for the most part, he never used it unless he went to see his brother and family in WV. I bought it off him for $100.00 He told me Best Buy would only give him that much. He wants an Apple and who can blame him. So over the next few weeks, I’m going to be transfering my stuff from my other lap top to this one. And figure out how to work the 1.3 megapixal camera and microphone. Tomorrow, I’m picking up The Hunger Games and start on yard work. Will post a longer blog later today.
